A little work, a lot of nothing
Not much as happened the past couple of weeks, we are still in Adelaide and very poor, we have managed to get out a little though.
Helen's friend (Mel) invited us around her parents house the other Sunday which was great, meeting the locals and all that, they were lovely and made sure we were well fed and watered, also we went for a walk around a local park before dinner. We also joined Mel for her birthday party last Friday where I think we consumed our body weight in alcohol, Helen was out to impress and managed to regurgitate the contents of her stomach on the train back and three times in the taxi, me being a gentlemen managing to create a sick bucket out of newspaper for her.
There has been a bit of work; Helen has got a part-time job in a restaurant as a waitress she starts tonight, not many hours but she should get more as the season picks up. Last week we got some work at a circus! At the time I was worried we were just food of the lions, I mean who cares about some missing backpackers?! But luckily it was doing labouring, we basically helped the 'Moscow Circus' take the tents down. There were about six of us from the hostel and it was hard work, loads of lifting, I've just about recovered today. We worked two days and got about $200 in total - a weeks shopping paid for.
In other news there was a lunar eclipse the other night, Helen and I went down to the nearest park and set up camp. I managed to get a good picture of it with my fancy camera (picture is below).
We are both still working at the hostel for accommodation, it's easy work. Other than that we spend most days around the hostel surfing the net or watching TV in our room.
I'm not going to look for office type work any more, not much point as I don't think we'll stay in Adelaide much longer, hopefully some more casual labouring/circus work comes though!
