Spent the past couple of weeks in Adelaide not doing very much really.  The weather here is nice, the sunny days are very warm and there isn't much rain (considering it is winter).

The city itself is rather small, being a little larger than Perth but we are managing to walk everywhere without it taking too much time.  The surrounding area seems very green compared to the rest of Australia that I've seen so far - it kind of looks like home actually.

There a couple of museums and such that I need to get out and see.  For the most part though days have consisted of getting up at about 11am, having breakfast, looking for work online, going for a run down the local park, then followed by a little more job hunting.

Jobs have been pretty scarce and until last week I had no luck at all.  On Monday I had an interview to be a dishwasher, I turned up to a queue of about 30 people, then was interviewed by a panel of 4 people, the interview was short and sweet but I thought 4 people interviewing you for a dishwasher was a bit extreme, it suffices to say I didn't get the job.

On Wednesday both Helen and I got a job apple packing.  It was in a shed/warehouse, 9 hours a day, $18 per hour, packing apples.  We started on Wednesday, getting a lift from three other girls who work there and, well, one day was enough.  It was sooo boring, so, so, boring.  I'm not scared of a bit of graft, but with this job you couldn't speak to anyone (due to their proximity and the loud machines) also you were not allowed music/ipods, so you were left with just your own thoughts, all day, and to be honest my own thoughts bore me, that's why I distract myself with TV and computer games.  We didn't turn up the next day and just lost that pay, we have just wrote it off as a life lesson (never pack fruit).

So our mood was low and my money running even lower when a bit of good news come through..... I got a tax rebate from the lovely Australian Government of $4,000 (£2,200)!  I have therefore been eating very well and not been living the backpacker lifestyle of super noodles for dinner, it has been pancake breakfasts and steak/curry/rib dinners for us!

We have also found out there is an annual show on starting on Friday which runs for 10 days.  It is basically on big market/carnival and there is loads of work going on the stalls.  Both Helen and I have got work on said stalls.  I'll be working selling anime (e.g. Dragon Ball Z) stuff such as posters and figures while Helen is selling make-up.  I get paid $15 an hour and Helen gets a percentage of what she sells.

We start work Friday for 10 days straight, 11 hour days, so won't be doing much else for a while.
