I've made it!!

Everything went smoothly, in fact it all went a little too smoothly and I feel as though immigration are going to kick down the door any time soon and announce I shouldn't be here.

Got from the hotel to Heathrow all fine, checked in all good. My first flight worked out well, had a seat with extra leg room and the seat next to me was spare so no fighting for the arm rests.  The flight was a bit delayed so I was only at Singapore airport for about an hour.  Second flight fine, sat next to a nice Indian couple with a baby (luckily it slept through the whole journey).

Touched down in Perth, collected my bag and headed for immigration/passport checks.  Now, this is the bit that seemed too easy, I expected to have to answer a few questions, have my bank statements checked to ensure I had enough funds etc etc but instead I didn't speak to anyone, if you are from the UK and have that chip in your passport you just stick your passport on a scanner, look into the facial recognition screen and voilà, all done.

Next it was the bag check, anyone who has watched 'Border Control' on TV will know this part well, it's where they check you haven't brought in 30kg of raw meat into the country.  I was looking forward to this bit (I had rehearsed saying 'oh yeah, I've seen you guys on Border Control') but no, despite everyone in front of me being directed to the scanner this is how it went down:

Bloke: "Hi mate, you got anything to declare"
Me: "No"
Bloke: "OK that's fine just go straight through"

Easy as that, I was in Perth.

Got a taxi with a nice driver who through her thick eastern European accent gave me advice and a brief history of the place.

By the time I got to the hotel it was about 4pm, I hadn't slept for 26 hours and was a little worse for wear, hence why I didn't do this update yesterday.  All I managed to do was head down the road to McDonald's then pop to a shop on the way back to grab some milk and Crunchy Nut (they taste the same!!).

It's 8am now on Thursday, I'm going to spend the next couple of days doing touristy stuff, I'll take lots of pics and give an update tomorrow night.
