Road trip!

Had a tough couple of weeks; no work, getting out of bed at 1/2 in the afternoon, bumming around the hostel.  It's a tough life.

As the weather hasn't been great (raining quite a lot) it means the things that make Perth great such as the beaches are a no go, so to pass the time I've been doing things such as playing computer games with another lad at the hostel (we nicked a table and chairs from the communal area and placed them in his room, then set up multiplayer through our laptops).  Also a couple of us went down to the local geeky warhammer shop and brought a copy of 'Risk' (the board game), we have had a few long nights playing this (managed to get a group of four of us playing).

I've had a good couple of nights out boozing and I can gladly say I'm off the goon, I drink proper wine now, well... cheap stuff.  Last Saturday was someone's birthday so myself and another girl at the hostel (Helen) made a birthday cake for her and wrote happy birthday in Finnish on it, it actually turned out very well and was surprisingly edible, a picture of it is below.

Helen and I also managed to brave the rain and visit a brewery in Fremantle, it is called 'Little Creatures'.  They do a free tour of the place then give out free samples afterwards, it was really good and quite informative, although I'd say the beer is quite average and they only do one bitter (apparently the first and one of the only ones brewed in Australia, the rest are all lagers).  We went to the bar attached on the side after and had more beer and something to eat.

Now to my planned road trip! Helen from the hostel has got 9 days booked off work starting from Monday so we have rented a 2 berth campervan for next week, the camper was quite cheap (only £160 for 9 days) and it includes camping gear, a gas stove and has a makeshift bed in the back.  We are going to travel up the north coast and visit the beaches and bays along the way, hoping to see: Money Mia, Shark Bay, swim on the reefs at Ningaloo reef/Turquoise Bay, and if we have time get to Karijini national park and do some trekking.

It looks amazing up there and is quite remote, I have been told to take plenty of water and food because there is no telephone signal so if you break down you could be stuck for some time.  We are going to have to do loads of driving, the trip to the reef and back again is about 1,600 miles!!!

All being well I'll post an update in about two weeks time, along with some amazing pics!
