Winter is here, shorts have been packed away and my hoody is out.  It even rained all last weekend and as I have found out, when it is raining in Perth there is not a great deal to do.  All those lovely parks and beaches are of no use.

I have therefore spent the past couple of weeks mainly inside and doing boring things such as going out for dinner.  This has involved numerous outings to Dominoes ($5 pizza Monday and Tuesday!), burritos, San Churro  and also my very first curry in Oz, which has to be said wasn't as nice as back home, but it was pretty tasty.

Last Saturday I went around the science museum and planetarium with a fellow backpacker - the museum was pretty small, in fact there were only three rooms but there were loads of interactive things to play with.  The planetarium lasted about 30 mins and showed a video of the planets (der) and something to do with flight, it was for kids really.

Only other thing to report is I've found an AWESOME swimming pool nearby.  It's an Olympic size pool, all lanes, no kids to get in the way, fantastic.  My only complaint is that they are all good swimmers. See in Bannatynes I used to being one of the better swimmers, lapping everyone, but here I find it hard to keep up.  There is one 'slow' lane, the others are for swimmers who can do a lap (50 metres) in 60 seconds or less (I can just about do that).

I can't wait to finish work now, only two weeks left.  I was actually feeling a little home sick last week, with the weather being bad and the monotony of work, I thought I might as well be back home, but I'll be fine once I get on the road again.

My plan at the moment is finish work on the 16th, hang around for about a week to do some of my coursework, then travel up the west coast (making sure I see Ningaloo reef and the town of Broome), eventually getting to Darwin.  Not sure how I'm going to get there yet, might see if someone from the hostel fancies driving up, but it's a bit too early to sort anything yet.
